Building Homes to Overcome Poverty

Why build homes? Because many wonderful programs exist to address needs such as food and education for those living in poverty, but housing is an essential need that simply isn’t being met in Immokalee, Florida.  

In fact, 24/7 Wall Street listed Immokalee as one of the “50 Worst Cities to Live” in 2019. Why?  

  • A massive 43.4% poverty rate

  • A monopolized low-income rental market

  • Deplorable living conditions

  • Outrageous weekly rental rates

  • Strangers forced to live together in overcrowded trailers

Therefore, Immokalee Fair Housing Alliance is focusing on affordable housing, raising the funds and taking the steps necessary to improve the quality of life for low-income workers and their families. This includes raising money to fund the construction of a new apartment community and providing a rental program that makes the homes affordable for families and covers long-term maintenance. Together, we can turn the key and open that door to a better life.
