“Housing has been a major issue in Immokalee since the 1980s if not before.   In the 26 years I have been spending time there, singing to little children and in the church choir, and writing books and music, I have seen little in the way of progress.  Farmworker and packinghouse workers still rent trailers and apartments, many of which are sub-standard.   The colorful new Immokalee Fair Housing Alliance housing project will go a long way to address this pressing need and the community will benefit greatly from it.”
