Guadalupe Center President Lauds Immokalee Fair Housing Alliance
Dawn Montecalvo, President of the Guadalupe Center, has first-hand knowledge that the options for decent housing are limited in Immokalee, forcing families to live in poor conditions that risk their health and safety.
The Guadalupe Center in Immokalee has programs for early childhood education, after-school tutoring, and summer enrichment. Guadalupe Center opened a new building last June that can serve over 500 children from infancy to 5 years old.
“We are so grateful that an organization like yours has come into Immokalee and is addressing the greatest need in our community: safe, affordable housing,” says Ms. Montecalvo. She also appreciates that Immokalee Fair Housing Alliance is privately funded so that no one will be excluded from the project.
As our dreams become a reality, we anticipate partnering with Guadalupe Center personnel to identify those most in need of housing and coordinate support programs in our future community center. We look forward to that collaboration!
