Our Building Partner: Heatherwood Construction
Once Immokalee Fair Housing Alliance received enough funding to begin construction on the first building phase of our development, we knew it would be a significant undertaking and put the job out to bid. One company stood head and shoulders above the rest, and we knew we wanted them to be our partner for this project.
Heatherwood Construction benchmarks unparalleled standards of excellence, integrity, and good old-fashioned values within the commercial construction industry. They work diligently to meet the goals of any project and strive to provide a positive building experience with quality that will enhance the value of the facility.
Led by owner and CEO Walter Crawford, Heatherwood has a long history of building or renovating several other non-profits in the area, such as St. Matthews Friendship House in Immokalee, Guadalupe Center, and the Conservancy of Southwest Florida. Proud to lead a company based on Christian values, Walter understands the importance of family, raising his family of four with his wife Mary Beth in Naples for the past 33 years, and encourages his team to put family first. Strictly a commercial builder, Heatherwood has started to hire younger employees who want to contribute to future business in our area.
When Walter met Dr. Arol Buntzman, Chairman of IFHA, years ago, he knew he’d met someone with a genuine heart and hope who had outstanding plans for low-income residents in Immokalee. When Heatherwood was invited to bid, Walter emphasized that his team is driven to achieve results with rapid decision-making, a strong sense of responsibility, and a commitment to communication. Believing everyone should be treated with dignity and fairness, the Heatherwood team thinks creatively, leads with integrity, and is passionate about the IFHA’s mission to provide safe and secure housing to the hardworking people of Immokalee.
